OB

Does anyone here have experience with black diamond headlights? Specifically the storm models.

Thanks.

Models with the red, green and blue options are a good all-purpose headlamp. Good choice to keep in the truck or pack to save night vision or for blood trailing.

The older ones that I have are AA or AAA, and are lower lumens than the rechargeables that I keep in my bag and vehicles. They are a good backup if you carry a rechargeable lamp.

I have had one for 2yrs or so and it’s been solid. Key feature is that it locks so it won’t get turned on in my pack.

I used the Storm R for a few years, pretty good headlamp. I guess the battery started degrading and it quit lasting as long.

If you want to save some money get a Sofirn H35R. My Black Diamond still works but somebody gave me a Sofirn as a gift a few years ago and now I have 3 of them. Awesome light, especially considering the price. They're around $25 on Amazon but if you don't mind waiting a few weeks to receive it they are $15 on Sofirn's website. Pretty sure Peax, Last Light, etc all mark this light up and sell as their own brand with minor changes.

Sorfin H35R

The red mode from the Sofirn is way brighter than any of the color modes on the Black Diamond. Has a lock feature and uses a USB-C charger so it's the same as most phones. It always aggravated me trying to find a micro USB for the Storm. The battery is replaceable, too.

I went to that Sofirn H35R this past hunting season, and absolutely love it. Bought several more to give as gifts. Takes the same charger as my phone, and since the battery is removable I can pull it out and use it in my thermal (or vice versa).

For the price, it can't be beat.

Is the battery rechargeable?

I got one last deer season that was rechargeable and i did not know that the damn thing had a battery life of 1 hour. so i had to use my phone to navigate out of the woods lol

Yes, and replaceable.

Mine will usually last a week of hunting between charges if I'm not having to trail anything. I think the turbo mode only lasts 1.5 hours but I rarely turn it up that high. Medium mode (800 lumen) lasts 3 or 4 hours.
