I’m sure plane full of Brazilians were perfectly calm after seeing that.

Being inside that plane with those people is far more terrifying a thought than the engine failure.

Id have full faith in the pilots getting me on the ground in one piece on a single engine being it pooped after liftoff. Id have far lower faith in the cargo maintaining some semblance of sanity and not going into full mass hysteria with a visible engine fire.

IIRC they're certified to fly all the way on one engine. I'd be worried about the fire burning through the flight controls.

A Delta flight to Atlanta is a broad subject. That covers the Eastern half of the continental United States.

Brazil puts a whole new spin on things.

Or the fuel in the wing igniting. I hear those big planes fuel burns hot enough to melt iron beams…

Yeah, it seemed like that fire got fed fuel way too long

Brother, I’m a pretty calm guy, but I can’t guarantee I’d have clean underwear after seeing those flames.

Everyone knows fire can't melt steel, even though that's how it's made. The science is settled.

These planes are no longer controlled by cables. Also, they are designed to work under these extreme conditions. The designers do Failure Modes and Effects Analyses to make sure a failure like this won’t crash the plane.

No but the wires and hydraulic lines melt just as easy.
