He was saying a lot more than that. Kinda seemed like a rambling mental meltdown. Ultimately he's just not good and his contract is up at the end of the season so he's an easy cut rather than take questions about him. I thought he was gonna be Ja and he only got the meltdown part covered.

This
If he was a solid starter this would have been ignored

When I saw they waived him I expected some rant about homos that would be fitting in a Tarantino film. If this is all it took, that's fricked up. Yet Morant is a repeat offender of stupidity and retains a spot on an NBA roster. Make it make sense.

what exactly did he say that you would attribute to a man having a mental meltdown?

Sounds like he's got privilege on his side

He was having these philosophical/religious discussions for the last week on social media. This is after he said this a month ago:
quote:
“I’ve been dealing with knee soreness in my knee. I’m sure people can call it out — I’m not the same player I used to be. That’s why. I’m not the J.I. I used to be. The old J.I. is dead. I’m alive in Christ no matter what the basketball setting is. … no matter how many DNPs, how many points I score, those things are a temporary thing. Jesus is eternal.”
Whether it's a meltdown or not, dude is not in a good basketball space for for sure.

Yeah. Better player is less disposable.

Luckily for his mom she got to the Elite 8 so she won't have to answer for those comments.

What’s wrong with this? He’s right
I don’t see anything wrong with what he said, nothing about this is a meltdown.
He’s just not a good player and Chicago didn’t want to have to go on the defensive when the rainbow militia came for them

Prior to the team’s game against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, Bulls coach Billy Donovan explained the decision to waive Ivey.
“Just inside the Bulls, we have people from all different kinds of backgrounds,” Donovan told reporters. “And whether it’s coaches, from the top, it’s always been we’re all going to work well together, we’re going to accept each other. We’re going to be hard working, we’re going to be respectful and we’re going to be professional.
“… There’s certain standards I think we want to have as an organization and live up to those each and every day.”
Billy Donovan explains the Bulls cutting Jaden Ivey after the guard posted a homophobic video today.
The alphabet crazies are unrighteous even before you bring in it being based on his religion. As long as there is a “T” and a “+” (probably “Q” as well with its new catch all usage) they shouldn’t get pushed on anyone.
quote:
Ivey had increasingly been posting on social media about his religious beliefs and recently made anti-LGBTQ comments. The Bulls’ decision reportedly came after he criticized the NBA for celebrating Pride Month, which he called “unrighteousness.”
quote:
“The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ “
Guess the NBA has to protect all the brothers on the down low…

No that's not a meltdown. That a guy that's not in a good basketball headspace. The rambling religious discussions on IG in the last week was the meltdown.

Would the Bulls’ response have been as swift and righteous had Ivey been similarly critical of Christians?
Posted on 3/30/26 at 7:21 pm to Radio One
Or better yet to test the NBA’s “standards” … what if Ivey had been publicly critical of Muslims for their religion’s views on homosexuality, etc.?
Posted on 3/30/26 at 7:29 pm to saintsfan22
How’d I know that your definition of mental melt down was “spoke about Christ” and literally nothing else.

Did he? Or was it yet another "Christian" who won't just shut the frick up every now and then, mind their own business and go to church like their supposed to?

Eh, little thought experiment, the one I’m truly interested in. What’s the grievance hierarchy in my scenario?
