What is the source of our rights?

I love the Becket Cook show, and this is why. This is a really good discussion on where our rights come from, and what our founders thought. It’s amazing to me how many Americans actually believe that our rights were given to us by our founders in government rather than human rights God has written into our hearts from birth, regardless if you even believe or not. We instinctively know those rights.
I love the Ted Nugent analogy of parachuting to earth and his right to defend himself with or without approval to do so in reinforcing the idea that human rights are not given to us by government but rather inherent in our nature.

It is pretty simple. If the Government gives me my rights and I don't like what I've been given, then I eliminate the government or those infringing on my rights. If they are given by God then there is no recourse and can not be taken from us.

What good is a “god given right” if man can take it away so easily? At the end of the day, rights are effectively man made.

There are better questions
What is a right?
Who/what defines what a right is?
What is the comprehensive list of rights?
What erodes those concepts we reference as "rights"?
Much more important and salient questions

More correct than most on here will admit
Also many things we consider "rights" in the political sense are regulated by ecclesiastical means, which creates a lot of conflict in the argument those same gods create rights.

Because I’m not awarded rights. I already have them. Sure, man can take my human life even, depriving me of the right to life for instance, but he only controls me when I surrender my rights to him. The real issue here is over control. Man controls you only when you surrender your control over to him.

Our founders were all great students of history. They knew that the battle between individual freedom and govt control had been going on for 1,000 years.
The ancient Romans had slaves. Freedom was such a natural urge that they used it as a motive. "If you slaves produce 'x' amount of product instead of being lazy, I shall grant your freedom." The slaves worked hard and won their freedom. They made so much money in freedom that they bought some slaves.

Rights are God given.
To shorthand CS Lewis - God’s laws are like mathematics. They just are.

God gave them, men keep them.

You make a thread about rights and then pivot to pushing the discussion to something else. Amazing.

Please post the comprehensive list

Man can't take away god given rights. Let's say YOU are the man that makes my rights, I kill you and your entire bloodline to insure I don't need your permission for anything now or in the future. See how that works?

These are good questions. The problem with our modern day political system is we confuse rights with laws and we use them interchangeably. There are very few inalienable rights. But those rights are not given by any man bc no man can take them. If you all hate the word God so much, then just concede to the fact that there are rights people are inherently born with that man can not infringe upon.

Which rights do you reference that can't be taken by man?

The problem is I don't think these actually exist.

You were the first one, as usual, to breathlessly try to pivot away from the OP.

No I am still discussing the concept of rights.
He abandoned that when he pivoted, as I noted.

WTF are you going on about? That post is on topic.

Surely you know this, but when they say rights that are inalienable, they mean rights that cannot be morally taken by man. Obviously, any right can be taken.

Does he want to talk about rights or power/control?
The government will kill you for your lack of consent to be controlled rather easily. Happens every day.
There is sometimes a tangential relationship in this with rights, but if they are truly rights, this shouldn't be possible.
