For a lot of reasons, but I’ll just start with the fact that Moore is out, we’re moving Schmidt up, and a huge key to winning this series is getting as many outs as possible between those 2. And as much as Evans depends on getting in a groove and just getting the ball and winding up asap, you know Mingione is gonna pull out all the bullshite he generally pulls out times 10.

I have zero confidence this team can handle the pressure Kentucky puts on them.

I hate to say this, but I believe we get swept.

I missed a s word that I have subsequently corrected, but you know how Jay calls more offensive time outs than any other coach calls in an entire season? Challenges shite that has no chance of getting overturned? Mingione is that on steroids. He’s gonna do everything he can possibly think of to keep Casan from getting in a car rhythm.

This game might be 1-0 if Evans is on.

It depends on how it goes, obviously, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we lose tonight. That’s why it’s so big.

Last week was a huge start for him. He passed with flying colors. He will not be taken out of the rotation even if he has a somewhat mediocre outing

Schmidt’s start is much bigger.
We lose tonight and it’s on him to salvage one win.

We aren’t going to lose tonight.
Things turn around starting at 6:30 this evening.

Kentucky is a bad match up for us this season. They are going to press our defense hard. Defense seems to have been better of late but that's not a high bar. If we can keep from making a bunch of costly errors, that will give me a lot more confidence that this team can turn around and make a run. I think in the long run the offense and the pitching will figure it out. Im least confident in our defense turning the corner.

I mean I know most people don’t but I like that dude. He’s schemes with what he’s got. It’s also usually good games between him and Jay.

I wasn’t suggesting it was big for Evans to keep his spot. It’s big for LSU this weekend for Evans to get us off to a good start. And a coach like Mingione is pull all the chickenshit he can to keep Casan from getting in a rhythm. He’s gonna be tested in a different kind of way. That’s all. Certainly wasn’t suggesting he’s in any kind of danger of losing his spot.

And it’s way too early in the season to be talking “must wins,” but we really need to win this series.

Right. And a big part of that is Evans eating innings. We can win 2/3 if he goes 7 tonight and we lose 4-3. If he gets chased in the 4th, though, gonna be a huge uphill climb. I’m not re-splitting the atom here, just saying our weekend success depends a whole lot on how many outs Evans gets us tonight.
