Why don’t Republicans just use reconciliation

To pass for a bill for funding Homeland Security/TSA? Can’t it be used for budget related items and only requires a simple majority.

Rules don’t allow it at this stage.
ETA: It’s strictly limited in scope by Senate rules—and annual discretionary appropriations like DHS/TSA funding do not qualify.
Reconciliation is fast-track process tied to the original budget resolution. It cannot be used for the 12 annual appropriations bills (or supplements/CRs for them), which fund discretionary programs like DHS.
I appreciate the question, but if more people knew basic civics (or studied the legislature’s rules) we wouldn’t have so many stop-gap measures.

When? If they fund everything but ICE it can be used, why not the parts of DHS that re not currently funded?

I have heard senators on television advocating the use of it.

Sorry, but I believe you are wrong, every search I do indicates they can.

I honestly don't know... And if it can't be used now, why can it be used under the "negotiated" deal that the Repubs had on Sunday.
They were going to pass everything except ICE and then use reconciliation for that later on so no D's had to vote for it.

Tough crowd & climate for selling spending authorization would be my guess.

Because they are corrupt, chicken snot cowards. They would rather lose than do the right things.

I would think the crowd and climate would have softened quite a bit after putting up with the mess at airports.

On one hand yes. On the other, we are spending some money we probably weren’t originally planning on spending.
I’m just spitballing though. I have no idea.

Always blame the Republicans. All you need is for like 6 Dems do the right thing vote for the current bill that has been voted against by the Dems. The current bill is actually a compromise including things the Dems originally wanted. As usual the Dems move the goalposts to suit them with no regards to what it does to Americans. But like always most don’t hold Dems accountable for anything.

Expecting a Democrat to do the right thing is like expecting your 2 y/o to start paying bills.
