First of all. Does anyone ever see these around? He's been around the pond for about 3 years now.

Now he has took over guardianship of my wife's call ducks. Which is fine cause they are so small. Not much bigger than a full size dove.

They had 4 owls in the backyard a couple of weeks ago. I don't expect them to last long

We get these dirty basards in GA.

They are total a-holes.

There's a flock of about 10 to 20 Canadian that come in around 4pm and leave as the sun is going down

Up here in East Texas on the lake where I have my house, some years ago, in fact over a decade ago there was a snow goose that hung out with the ducks and barnyard geese on the lake. Must have been migrating and took a rest and didn't leave the rest of the season. Probably called to depart when the migrating geese went north.

A few weeks ago I went birding at Lacassine NWR, and there had to be over a thousand of these guys in a far pool...there were about a hundred nearer to the trail...it was my first time photographing them...

Take a ride down hwy 14 through swla next January. You’ll see thousands. That one in your picture is a juvenile if you didn’t know.

Those with the brown are jeuviniles, but they typically have more grey than brown. I think those are just dirty!

Also, the blue goose is just a color phase….both the white ones as well as the blue ones are all snow geese.

i did a little reading...i wasn't aware of the blue and white morphs before...i knew they were all snow geese, but i thought the different coloring only indicated age...thanks for the info!

Yes, it’s kinda strange. That last picture you posted is a blue goose, or what many of us around call an eagle head. Beautiful bird. If you’re a photographer, or a bird watcher, seriously plan a trip down through Gueydan to Laccasine next December/January. You’ll see some sights.

I have anywhere from two to ten Canadian geese that hang out by my pond. This last Saturday I had a single Snow hanging around the pond all day with the Canadians and was gone Sunday.
