There is a cathedral called "The Penthouse Club" on your street. I advise the Saturday night worship services.

St Aloysius is just down the road from there. St George isn’t too much further.

I like Father Josh’s sermons at Sacred Heart, but his masses can run a little long. The people are great at Aloyisius and CTK has great mass times, but both churches are laid out a little weird. The Cathedral downtown is really pretty. Mercy has an incredibly skilled organ player. St. George is a brand new church, and it’s massive.

St. Agnes Latin Mass off of Government downtown near the interstate. You won't regret going.

St. Aloysius has mass on Sunday at 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 and 5:30 PM. The 9:00 AM mass has children's church and after mass donuts. Father Michael Alello is awesome!

We like going to St. Jude’s when we visit.

I second Sacred Heart. Fr. Josh is excellent, and the Church is probably the most beautiful in Baton Rouge.
2251 Main St.
Masses are at 4:00 on Sat and 9:00 and 11:00 on Sunday.

Fr Andrew at CtK was always a great mass. He is now in Prairieville

I would vote Fr Allelo at Saint Aloysius for you. Fr Josh has a great sermon too like others have said

The cathedral is pretty nice. It’s downtown. Probably where you’d want to go.

creepy

Maybe, if you don't appreciate Romanesque/Byzantine art and architecture. (Don't go to St. Ben's in Covington, either. It was painted by the same artist, Dom Gregory De Wit.)

black

It's not black. It's at most Arabic/N. African. Which, by the way, is what Jesus' color was. He certainly wouldn't have been European/American white.

You can see it here.

ceiling

It's not on the ceiling. It's in the apse. And it was modeled after the first pastor's (Msgr. Dominic Blasco) home church, the Cathedral in Cefalù, Sicily, which is mosaic and completed in the early 1200s.

You can view the apse of Cefalu's Cathedral here.

Downvote away, but it's still the most beautiful Catholic Church in B.R.
