National Gasoline Price Average with another $0.20+/gallon rise from Previous Week

The nation’s average price of gasoline has risen 24.3 cents over the last week and stands at $3.92 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. The national average is up 98.9 cents from a month ago and is 84.1 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel rose 27.0 cents in the last week and stands at $5.227 per gallon.
“Gas prices continued to rise nationwide over the last week as seasonal factors, combined with ongoing supply concerns tied to the continued disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, pushed both gasoline and diesel prices sharply higher,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “It now appears increasingly likely that the national average price of gasoline will reach the $4-per-gallon mark—potentially as early as this week—for the first time since 2022, while diesel prices are surging to multi-year highs, with some markets nearing record territory."

Oil markets were under heavy pressure to start the week, with prices moving sharply lower after President Trump said he would pause potential strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days following reported talks with Tehran. The development helped ease immediate supply concerns and sent oil prices into a steep early decline.
In early trading, WTI crude fell $5.63 per barrel to $92.60, down from last Monday’s $95.64 level, while Brent crude dropped $6.58 to $105.61 per barrel—though still above last week’s $102.60 level. Despite the pullback, both benchmarks remain elevated, reflecting how quickly geopolitical risk had been priced into the market.
All eyes will now be on whether these talks materialize and lead to any de-escalation. A reduction in tensions could ease concerns over disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz—the critical chokepoint that carries roughly 20% of global oil flows. Any sign that transit risks are diminishing would likely put further downward pressure on prices.

In a few weeks he’ll proclaim no other president has ever brought down gas prices like he has. The dumb seals will clap and point that’s he’s technically correct. Gas prices were at an all time high and Trump saved us. I’ve seen this movie before

Gas prices could reach $10 a gallon and you would still think it's fine because Fox News said so.

Where the heck was gasoline $5/gallon in Louisiana? The national average for Regular in June 2022 was $4.93/gallon, and Louisiana always seems to be a good bit lower than the national average, with places like California being much higher.
But yeah...we're still at this time way lower right now than June 2022.

The timber industry around here already was in crisis mode, and this isn't helping.
