York struck out looking in the 2nd inning. He struck out swinging in the 4th. He struck out looking in the 7th. He again struck out looking in the 9th, as the lead off hitter.
His total: 4 at bats 4 strikeouts with 3 looking. I can’t believe they didn’t pinch hit for him in the 9th.
Jay Johnson seems to be dying by the sword with him.

Thank god you clarified “LSU Baseball” before referencing Zach Yorke and SEC pitching.
We wouldn’t have known what you’re talking about otherwise.
But yes, Yorke is struggling at the plate like many on the team.

He's struggling mightily hard on anything offspeed. It's actually shocking to me how he gets on base so much. If I was a pitcher, I wouldn't even throw a fastball to him. He doesn't adjust and often just lets the off speed strike 3 him out over the plate. I'd challenge him.
I've noticed he sits on the fastball and he doesn't really make adjustments in the count. At some point you have to rake what they give you, especially if it's a meatball change up over the plate. It feels like to me his biggest problems is he expects the wrong pitches in the situations and he also just absolutely does not see the pitches. He very regularly swings early on the off speed which is telling you he expects fastball in that situation when anyone can scout and see why should we?
I think people being a little hard on him here. It's always going to be an adjustment for the portal guys. Maybe the light comes on for them soon as they see more pitching but right now, the transfer portal is what's killing this team outside catcher. If he's fixable Jay will fix him.

Neither can most of our team. Yet he’s still being singled out for some reason. It’s very weird

Why hasn’t our hitting coach worked with him on that deficiency

I wonder if he is a guy who tries to guess pitches at the plate. I like see ball hit ball guys.
