Last year Jake Brown could barely break through the lineup

This year he is one of the best in college.
Does this show how much depth we had last year vs this year?
Or
Does this convince you to trust our coaching staff?

Pitchers are scared of him

He would have been one of the best last year

Probably both. He has improved since last year and the lineup this year isn’t as good.

We all knew his limitation and so did every opponent. He never figured out left handed pitching last year, even when his playing time went up approaching the postseason. He really worked on that in the offseason and improved.

So why do fans prefer guys with “it” vs letting guys with talent actually develop?

We were loaded last year. Embarrassment of riches.

Tell me you don’t know what you’re talking about without telling me you don’t know what you’re talking about.

No I just is a reflection of being in a lineup every single day and knowing you’re gonna be best in the bat order starting all 56
Jake was one of the best hitters on the team as a true freshman; kid is stud all around athlete. Coaches can’t teach that

Four out of nine men hitting the ball doesn't work too well!

Especially when the 5 guys brought in to fill those gaps haven’t lived up to expectations.

Jake Brown was one of the best players on the team last year too. Jay wanted to play Pearson a lot too, so he platooned them. Jake started against Right handers and Josh started against left. Worked out well for the team.

He had the 7th most at bats, wouldn’t call that barely breaking the lineup.

because "fans" want instant gratification.

He probably needed more development first half. It's kinda like Serna right now. Anyone can see his potential but you want to keep playing him so the light comes on. Brown has improved since last year clearly. The answer to your question is both.

We have two very recent natties. Anyone here that doesn’t trust the staff in the long run, is an idiot. With that said, we (fans) can sit back and enjoy our armchair coaching. The hardest part for a fan is to not understand the “why” some guys are playing. We want the team to win today. But a good coach (I.e. Jay), is not only coaching today’s game for today, but he’s coaching today for the last games of the season as well as next year. Braun and Ruckert aren’t ready to be in the lineup every day. We all see that. BUT Jay works them in where he can bc it helps them develop. It’s a chess game. We see the move in front of us, not the next 3 he has in his head. The difficultly for us is head scratching moves that don’t make sense bc we have partial info.

And yet York is in the lineup every day

I’d love to see Yamin at 1B today. But we face a LHP. Despite Yorke’s horrible game last night, he hits lefties better than he hits righties by a large margin.
Yorke vs LHP
24 PA
.571 BA
.708 OBP
1.923 OPS
