Looking for any hidden gems or generally good locations. Doesn't matter where it is in Louisiana. Would appreciate any recommendations.

I've purchased several guns @ G & H in Gueydan, Jim Mixon is the operator there, have known him since he was a kid...

I've bought them in grocery stores (several actually), convenience stores, atv dealerships, at a rural flying service, big box stores and local sporting goods stores.
So far I haven't found a bad place. I always enjoyed the grocery store. I think its time to go for a drive.

I walk in and take a look at their "Custom" ARs on the wall. If they are selling Diamondback ARs with Holosun Red dots and O Light flashlights for more than $1000 I run not walk out of that store.
DB-15 - $500
Holosun - $120
O Light - $100

Apocalypse sports in Ponchatoula is awesome. One of the best selections around along with an indoor range.

I need to go stick my head in there. How’s the range (and the clientele)?

They carry quality hunting clothes too.
As to the OP's question. I haven't bought a gun in a store in a long time. If it's something I have to have, I buy online and ship it to my cousin's FFL storefront.
Otherwise, I buy private party purchases that just fall in my lap.

The range itself is awesome for an indoor range. The clientele is hit or miss. Sometimes they have some draco pistol shooters with a muzzle break next to you and it's miserable. Other times nobody is in there it's nice.

Jessie’s in Oak Grove, LA
You can buy any legal gun you like, get a hunk of pizza and get fuel all in one stop.
