I know a few people have already seen it in Europe and other early screenings. I’m currently counting down the minutes until my IMAX showing at 7pm tonight.

Feel free to post spoilers.

This is making me nostalgic for when Sentrius would proactively create the OFFICIAL thread for each superhero movie, before he had seen it.

This is where we will discuss this movie.

The movie made me feel more emotional than the book with the Rocky / Grace relationship. Glad I read the book though as some of the sciency stuff gets glossed over a bit.

I was bummed when I mistakenly thought it was this past weekend. Either way I’m pumped to see it this weekend.

I like what I’ve seen in the trailers but I REALLY REALLY hate how much shite they give away in trailers like they did with this one.

Yeah just no way to cover all the science in a movie.

Can’t wait to see it being a big fan of the book.

Just left the theater. Gosling and Rocky were fantastic. Loved it. Stayed pretty true to the book, they didn’t get into specifics on how the astronauts were chosen. Also didn’t show Grace finding out Earth got the message.

Yea. Great movie. The scene orbiting planet Adrian was amazing.

It’s worth it to see it in IMAX just for that scene.

My son and I just got out, all I can say is that it did not disappoint. Condensed for sure around some parts, but they had no choice but to do that for the movie, and where they did it, they did a good job.

Some perfectly funny parts that had me laughing harder than most movies, great emotional connection between Grace and Rocky, and just an overall fantastic theatrical experience.

And the score around Adrian, especially when collecting the sample box, was everything I wanted it to be.

Me and the wife saw it tonight. I read the book, she didn’t but we both loved it. This film should do very well.

I was surprised at first that they basically skipped over all the amnesia plot and truncated it down but it was the right decision.

Rocky will be a hit for a lot of folks. They really did a great job of fleshing out the relationship with Grace.

Whaaaaat?!

How you leave the movie going audience completely unaware of if he succeeds or not.

Audience knows as it is even more explicitly shown than what happens in the book. Grace isn’t shown being told Sol is better / Earth is saved.

You see the result from a different viewpoint. It’s also alluded to on his end when Rocky talks to him on the beach, but it’s not explicit.

Saw it with four others last night. Three of us had read the books and the others didn’t read or watch the trailers so they were not expecting Rocky. Everybody loved him and thought the movie was excellent.

Anybody not watching it in IMAX is doing themselves a disservice. The collection sequence and Grace’s moment in the Petrova line are worth the extra money.

Perfectly cast. Rocky as a practical puppet with the puppeteer as the voice was the best decision they made. I highly doubt we get the same chemistry if Gosling was talking to Rocky the tennis ball. I can’t think of a better actress than Huller to play Stratt either.

I have no complaints. Parts of it felt rushed but I don’t think anybody was wanting an extended sequence of taumoeba breeding. Only the slightest disappointment we didn’t get the me-burger.

Not sure general audiences would have been able to handle what they would have falsely called cannibalism.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Rocky as a puppet and not CGI is one of the best decisions any director / producer / studio has made in some time. It worked phenomenally.

I've read the book and my daughters (9 & 11) want to see the movie. There's nothing in the book, romance nor violence, that makes me think they shouldn't watch the movie.

Thoughts on taking my girls to watch it? Anything that different from the book that should give me pause?
