I'm looking for a small, slow growth Magnolia for my landscape flower bed. The bed I have is not very big. My roof line/eave height is about 11 feet. I've searched and found that the Little Gem seems to be the best for this but it says mature height is 20-25' and diameter 10-15'. That mature size would be too big for the area. When walking the neighborhood and seeing other landscapes around town, I see Magnolia trees that are about 8-10' height and about 5-6' diameter and they don't seem to hardly grow. That is more of what I'm looking for.
I did see a few other variety's but I don't think they're very popular at least in Louisiana. (ie. Gail's favorite, Genie).
Do any of you have a Magnolia in your landscape or know which variety would be mature height of ~15' and diameter of ~8'?

ETA - After more research and suggestions here, I decided on the Teddy Bear Magnolia. Max. 15' - 20', and can control growth by pruning if need be.

Not a fan of anything nearly that big near house. But do pay attention to where your services from road (water,cable/fiber, gas ) enter your slab . Those roots will ruin ur day in the future . Good luck.

I have a little gem at one end of a flower bed, it has grown very slowly. It’s about 5’ tall after 4 years but it gets about a half day of shade. Saucer magnolia or sweet bay magnolia are other good choices.

I have a sweet bay in another flower bed that’s about 8’ tall after three years

The Plant Sale in Forest Hill is this weekend. I was just looking at the plant list for Doug Youngs Nursery. Might be a good opportunity to look at some different varieties. They have little gem in 3-30 gallon sizes.
