What boat & length are you going in?

Reds have been great down SW in Joseph Bayou Area. Dont waste your time on the spillways with everyone else if youre looking for reds. Find a bay with a point in it that funnels water or where there are some canes at a pinch point. Dead shrimp under cork.

Sheephead fishing has also been good on the rigs in 10-25ft of water.

Trout have already been moving out. may catch one here or there, but not likely.

Can always catch bass in a low river.

Not sure if you've bass fished down there - but its not like normal bass fishing. got to punch cane.

Boat should be fine - just watch running S pass/Main, the sides are shallow but middle is fine.

Sheepshead in West Bay are ridiculous right now. First rig out of Red Pass in 26 ft of water. Every drop. We caught 32 that weighed 133# in less than an hour. The fish cleaners at Venice Marina turned us down because they are hundreds of pounds behind right now. Too many sheepshead coming in.

Fished venice this weekend. Ran the boat out northeast pass and hammered the sheepshead. Then fished on buddies boat and caught bunch bliners, big red snapper (released), and a nice cobia. We all suck at cast netting 8 foot nets so tried to sabiki and managed only about a dozen baits few tinker macks and some bar jacks. Not enough bait so we didnt tuna fish. Heard it was a boat show at Elf and Who dat and had to have live pogies. Was nice to get out there. We gonna try it this friday/saturday for sheepshead again.

Went and cut the grass at the camp downriver Friday. Went to Empire/Buras area Saturday morning. 3 of us caught 20 specs ranging from 16"-18". Bite was slow, but all nice fish.
