Noticed they’ve been closed the past 2 weeks when I’ve driven past. Spoke with someone at the store yesterday and she confirmed. Said they just couldn’t get enough sales to keep it open or figure out a concept to stick.
Damn. I thought the buffet was great the few times I went. Loved all the dim sum.
Can’t imagine anything else going in there for a while.

It`s probably because they charged like $65 for two people on a Saturday at lunch with two sodas and tax it was $74.

They should have stayed with their made to order meals (which were actually good) instead of changing to a generic and over priced buffet.

I I called it right after they transitioned to a buffet, it was a short term cash grab... going from what they were (best Asian in BR) to a buffet made no sense

I thought it was mediocre at best and didn't expect it to last long. Still don't understand why the changed from the original concept.

Damn, wanted to try but haven’t been in the area for a while.

BR is a Chinese dining wasteland for a metro it's size. Lee's Fusion outside Denham is the best, and it's pretty good not great. When PF Chang's is about as good as it gets, that's just sad.
I still give biz to Cheng's, Oriental Pearl, King's Wok, China Bear,etc..But, BR's Vietnamese and Thai are much better than it's Chinese fare..
Hell, Kit Wong and his sons left Mandarin and mall city behind, to go sell Sushi on Essen.

ASH's Buffet largely sucked sans a dish here there, and the price ridiculous.
As others noted their original ala carte restaurant had some nice dishes(Yang Chow Fried Rice, Basil Beef, some Firepot soups, etc..), but their Dim Sum was vastly overrated sans Chives Potsticker and a few others.

Once again TD is far in font of the BR local paper.
From today:
As an aside, and to show you how terrible the Advocate is, this is an article from yesterday by the same exact author. All the photos from yesterdays article were from Asian Seafood House. So she apparently did no research to see that they were already closed.
From today:

The restaurant was located on the intersection of Florida Boulevard and South Sherwood Forest and closed on March 3, confirmed by owner Yuki Chen.
“We have pretty good business,” Chen said. “The problem is we don’t have enough people working.”
Chen said if she can find more people to work in the kitchen, the restaurant can open back up. Or she hopes to find a business partner to help with finances. If not, she plans on finding somebody to take over the remainder of the building’s lease, which is about three years.

Quite the opposite in the mid to late 90’s when Hunan and Bamboo House were humming along.
Hunan was arguably one of the best Chinese restaurants in the entire region at one point.

Hunan, Bamboo House, and Chinese Inn at Alamo Plaza and later Airline near Goodwood..
Best in BR history, MK Wong's Chinese Inn until his chef retired back to Bellaire Chinatown in HTown..was on par with stuff I've had in LA, NYC, LV, SF's Grant St.

I liked Hunan, but it wasn't as good as Five Happiness, Trey Yuen, etc..in their heydays, of just La restaurants.

Buffets in this day and age mainly attract the worst kind of customers.
