Paint/Primer Question

I'm repainting a dark colored room in my house to something lighter. I've done one coat of primer and I can still see the old color showing through.
Do I really need to do another coat of primer or can I just go ahead with the new color? I'll do two coats of the new color but I hate painting and don't really want to do another coat of primer. Can I skip it or will it affect the finished product?

I'd do this. Be prepared to possibly have to do an additional coat though. Covering dark with light is tough no matter the priming situation.

The only other thing I'll add is to use high quality paint

I usually do that anyway, just want to make sure it's not gonna mess up the finished product.

One trick is to tint the primer the same as your finish coat. That way the primer does not show through.

When painting over a darker or even similar color I have always done two coats of primer. Primer is much cheaper than the paint we would use and I’d rather do an extra coat of primer than a third of the actual color.
It’s a pain in the arse, but such is the challenge when painting over a dark color.
Green frog tape too, much better than the blue tape.
