He dropped another great quote when asked whether Jayson Tatum will return from injury or not on the 14th:

“I don’t even know if I will be alive by then. I go to bed questionable… I wake up probable”

He's got so many of em:

"What if we all walked around with like five coins, right? And at any point in time, you can just hand one out, and you just challenge a guy to like, combat,” Mazzulla said at the time. “If you do pull a coin on a guy and he beats you up, like, that’s your fault. You've got to either train harder, or pick and choose your coins better.”

“People are gonna say the target is on our back, but I hope it’s right on our forehead in between our eyes. I hope I can see the red dot,”

“I wonder how many of those have been Christian coaches?” — Mazzulla when asked of the significance of the 2024 NBA Finals featuring two black head coaches.

Al Horford said he couldn’t run a marathon because he can’t make it more than a mile. Mazzulla: “I would just go until I die.”

“There’s no fouls in a war. You either die or you don’t.”

"This is the fun part. You don't get into the journey for it to be easy. It’s been dark, but in a good way. You just gotta tap into your darkness. That’s it. You just gotta do it.” After going down 0-2 to the Knicks.

"Everybody wants to win until it’s really time to win. And then you have to nut up and do a lot of [expletive] that you don’t want to do.”

My favorite coach in all of sports

Jayson Tatum was trying to milk a foul by laying on the ground so he told the trainer not to go out there then yelled across the court for him to get the frick up. Dude is awesome

Love that guy. I'll never forget his dominating performance over Kentucky who had John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins among many other NBA players In the 2010 elite eight, that got West Virginia to the final 4. I think he had 18 points and his defense was suffocating.

He's got some Coach O in him too

“I’m always up to get knocked out,” Mazzulla said. “I think that’s important, too. ... If you can’t go through the day hoping you don’t get knocked out, I don’t know what do you do.”

“If you’ve ever been in a fight with someone and you think you’re about to beat them, you usually get sucker-punched. The closer you are to beating them up, the closer you are to losing.”
