At the top of Letlow's campaign team ticket is former Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham as campaign chair.

Abraham, a doctor, was most recently a top official at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control before resigning last month to return home to Richland Parish to take care of an ailing relative.

He was previously Gov. Jeff Landry's health secretary and then Louisiana surgeon general. Abraham also ran an unsuccessful campaign for governor in 2019.

“Julia Letlow has demonstrated principled leadership and a tireless commitment to Louisiana,” Abraham said in a statement. “She is the proven conservative fighter our state needs in the U.S. Senate, and I am proud to lead the effort to help send her there.”

Between this and the Governor's Chief of Staff leaving to dedicate his full time to her campaign, it's blatantly obvious John Fleming was correct over a year ago about Gov Landry trying to back Rep. Letlow for the Senate race.

That was the first part of his theory he publicly pushed.

The second part was that after her election to the Senate, if she won, the Governor at some point put in her in the position of the President of a university or one of the university boards, then try to insert himself in as her replacement in the U.S. Senate.

I guess if she wins...we'll see if that second part was also correct.

This part doesn’t make much sense to me. Why would she then leave the Senate? How exactly would Landry then appoint himself? Seems pretty far fetched.

I think if the term to serve is greater than 1 yr a special election is required to fill the vacancy is it not? Might have that wrong tho.

Ralph Abraham is a good man.

Would have been a much better choice to run against JBE than that used car salesman Louisiana Republicans chose.

It will be between Fleming and Letlow. Cassidy has no chance.

She absolutely is a contender.

Latest poll, conducted by Fleming campaign and done by a reputable pollster, has all three in the mid to low 20%s in the initial primary election. So…Cassidy does have a chance to be one of the two standing for the closed primary runoff.

Now that said, if Louisiana Republican primary voters are smart, if Cassidy doesn’t qualify for the primary runoff, he should have zero chance of surviving past that. We’ll see…

Ralph “Tax Neutral” Abraham. What a horrible campaign he ran.

Maybe, but at least he would have ran an actual campaign in the runoff vs Bel Edwards.

Rispone did little more than go around saying “I support Trump”, and employed a bunch of out of state carpetbaggers to make money off campaign donations while conducting a complete non-existed local get out the vote operation.
