Has anyone bought a robotic lawn mower? Sat on the shaded porch on a hot August day with a glass of iced tea and watch your lawn get mowed? The technology sounds pretty cool, I just wonder if it really works as advertised.

I enjoy getting outside and doing yard work. Instant gratification.

See one in graywood when I fish back there, toro brand. Yard is probably an acre and I bet it only stops to recharge. By the time it gets to the end of the yard it starts over again.

I am a big fan of battery powered tools…I even have a chainsaw that works very well. However, I can’t see how a battery powered lawnmower could possibly work worth a damn, unless you have an incredibly small yard.

My Luba AWD is cutting 3 acres perfectly fine.

It just broke 350 miles traveled.

What kind of grass do you have and how often is it running?

For 3 acres, I imagine it's running every day of the week, all day long during the summer months.

Does it go around or over crawfish holes?

I'm interested in getting one, but skeptical about how well they'll do if it's not a perfectly level lawn with no obstacles. My front yard is fine, but my backyard has tons of pine cones, dog shite, holes dug by said dogs, tree roots, toys left by kids everywhere. I guess it could still be worth getting one just to do the front and maybe part of the back, then touch up the spots it can't do.

Anyone have a breakdown of best brands/models, what to look for, what to avoid, etc.?

I would encourage you to watch some YT reviews as after going down this rabbit hole, I feel every yard and situation is different - yard size, type of turf, obstacles, etc. can play a role.

Mammotion (Luba 2 or 3) and Lymow are two brands that are high on my list.

Whatever the hell decided to grow. Bahia, clover, crabgrass, whatever.

I have it set to cut an intersecting checkerboard. Meaning it cuts the entire "yard" vertically then horizontally. It takes near as makes no difference 1000 minutes to do so. That includes charge time. It begins around 8 am and finishes around 9 am the following day.

I have it set to take a two day break and then start again.

As for obstacles, I have holes and ant piles, it doesn't care about either. I do my best to pick up any sticks bigger than an inch.

It climbs a side of limestone driveway that's about 75 degrees. Drives 50 ft, then drives down the opposite side to mow the other side of the ditch if the ditch is flooded. When dry it mows everything.

Blades look new.

My only complaint is the rtk station needs to be positioned very very high or 20 ft away from the house.

As for toys, it'll shove most balls around, it doesn't like toddler cars if they are left out

ETA: mine overlaps the previous path by 4inches. If I set it to cut its full width once, had st Augustine and could wanted it to cut at top speed, it would finish in half the time.

Instead it cuts 9 inches wide at 2 fps, and then does the entire thing again in a second direction.

Lines are...straighter than you could hope to do by hand. It will also 3d print designs if you want.
