Now that 6+ years have passed, does anyone actually know why Lanard left the team?

I was really excited for him headed into the 2019 season, especially after the game he had in the 7OT match with TAMU.
I know TDP and Emery were coming in - people even assumed they would start ahead of Clyde (I actually remember Clyde hate.)
But why leave a month in, especially after the Texas win and Vandy beat down?
There were rumors that he just wanted to go be with his brother. But can that really be it?
It seems crazy to have been around JB, Ja'Marr and JJ...and then decide to walk.
I always felt bad after all the time he put in.
Does anyone know?

Didn't he leave after he played 4 games, thus keeping his redshirt?

He went from being the #3 guy in 2018 to the #4 or #5 guy in 2019. They probably asked him to go do scout team & he was “too good” for that.
Or I’ll stick with the rumor that Frank Wilson was tampering to bring him to UTSA before he got fired

he'd already used his redshirt. he was a 5th year senior in 2019

My recollection of the time was that he had some nagging injuries and decided it was not worth the toll on his body to play football anymore, especially with his brother getting generational wealth from the NFL and probably offering to take care of him going forward.
Of course, that was all speculation, as well.

I thought he was playing early in the year and then got injured if I remember correctly. Not sure if he ever got fully healthy, but got passed up in the depth chart by a couple other backs when he was out.

He was a 5th year senior who wasn’t going to play. I don’t think it’s any deeper than that.
