Anyone watched this? I'm not going to say this is a great movie, but I liked it.

It has Jeff Bridges, Sally Field, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Englund, and Roger Mosley.

It's based on a book written by Charles Gaines, who is a Birmingham, AL, native. It was filmed in Birmingham, and if you know downtown, you will recognize a lot in the film. There is a good shot of Sloss Furnace and a lot is filmed at The Club.

The third act takes a turn that reminds me of a Russ Meyer film.

It's worth a watch.

Yep - very quirky and different but definitely entertaining. Big nostalgia factor if you lived through the 70's.

It was probably the first time that I really ever saw or heard of Arnold. Early Jeff Bridges and Sally Field were great. Also has RW Armstrong.

Didn't realize/remember that it was co-written directed by Bob Rafelson.

It's on Fubo & MGM+. I recently did an MGM on Prime deal, so I can watch it there.

Gaines was Arnold's regular photographer.

Gaines is an interesting guy - successful writer, outdoorsman, and is credited with inventing paintball. I think he worked on Pumping Iron as well.

Saw it a few years ago after I heard a little about it and found out it wasn't a documentary style movie like Pumping Iron, but a real movie.

Enjoyed the heck out of it. VERY 70s, very southern, and very entertaining. And as mentioned, it kind of goes crazy at the end, but that's what makes it so much fun.
