It's a terrible break for Toppin and for Texas Tech. That sucks.
But he injured himself trying to draw a foul instead of trying to score a basket. It was a fast break and he dribbled straight into the defender (who backed away and didn't foul) and Toppin stepped on the guy's foot. Too many players are out there looking to get fouled instead of just putting the ball in the hoop.

Heartbreaking for him. Tech had a chance at a deep run in the tournament with him. Now, they don’t have anyone to fill that big of a role. Hope he recovers fully and has a great career.

Bro. A move he's probably done a hundred times as an athlete. Just say it sucks and be done. Toppin is an outstanding kid and talent.

That's exactly what you're coached to do in that situation. It forces the defender to make a decision.
