In terms of refrigerator, gas cooktop, oven(s), and dishwasher, do you typically mix and match? Or stick to one brand?

Is it better to buy a brand, such as Frigidaire Professional over a "speciality" appliance, or one that is less sold, such as Wolf (just as an example)? I'm speaking directly to warranty work and replacement parts.

My current set up with a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, F&P gas cooktop, KitchenAid double ovens, and a Bosch dishwasher. Both F&Ps were purchased within the last 4 years. My KA is at least 10 years old. My Bosch diswasher is just over 1.5 years old (purchased through Costco - couldn't pass up on their sale -- this replace a F&P double dishwasher drawer that was 11 years old and went out).

Edited to add ...

Why is this so inexpensive?

Thor Kitchen 36-Inch Professional Gas Rangetop - $1,349

Re-edited.

Apparently Thor is a "luxury" brand in terms of look and aesthetics, but suffers from quality issues.

The 19" Frigidaire fridge and freezer set is the goat if you have the space! It's unbranded on the outside so it looks like a subzero or any other high end unit and will fit in with anything but since it's a Frigidaire it's not going to constantly break down and repairs are easy.

I wouldn't but anything but bosch for dishwasher.

We have a mineral green 36" AGA range and I absolutely love it. The pop of color was m my wife's idea but it fits in perfectly.

Stainless 36"farm sink from Amazon couldn't tell you the brand.

Frigidaire microwave but it's hidden in our pantry so nobody ever sees it.

That it for us. Everything fits perfectly together and zero compromises on what we wanted.

Typically stick with one brand. We went with the GE Cafe line for everything but the rangetop and I’ve been pleased. We splurged on a Bluestar rangetop and it’s awesome.

I don't think I'm going to post what our AGA Elise cost in this thread

We went with Frigidaire Professional, mainly due to price, and availability, but also the look. Not all stainless or colors will look the same from different brands, or even the same brand depending on the tier or model. That may or may not be important to you, it was for my wife, as well as the oven handles matching the dishwasher handle and the fridge handle.

i havent noticed but our kitchen layout has the fridge opposite the dishwasher and because they're not side-by-side, i don't think you would ever notice a slight variation of stainless steel colors.

sink was some chinese brand on amazon, dishwasher bosch and fridge is frigidaire and to my untrained eye the stainless looks identical.

also we have a quirky kitchen with the induction range anyway so i've never given the handle style much thought.

IMO matching handles is a TERRIBLE way to go about picking appliances; you compromised and went w/ the same brand just because the handles matched?? pick 'best in class' for each and i guarantee the last thing you'll care about is a slight variation of the handles which you wont even notice after install

Our blue star 36” range with oven wasn’t expensive at all compared to what I was expecting. When you go up to 48” is gets pricy but the 36” is pretty affordable considering the quality. And yes the Frigidaire units CAD posted are the goat. Get those and you’ll wonder why you looked at anything else

I don’t disagree with you that picking appliances based on handles alone is a not a good idea, and was not a driving factor in our decision. Our setup is spread out enough where no one would likely notice or care. In the end, I got what I wanted and she got what she wanted, plus we came in under what we originally budgeted for and have no complaints about any of the appliances after 5 years.

i apologize; that wasn't directed specifically at you, just the mindset that goes into thinking you have to be tied to a particular brand or product line because they look the same is a bad idea. i hear this all the time from friends 'we put all ge/samsung/lg/whirlpool/kenmore product line X in our house because they all match'

i dont want a bosch fridge and i dont want a frigidaire dishwasher

Sacrificing a little on the quality of dishwasher for cereal bowls and silverware was an easy compromise, definitely wouldn’t do it the other way around.

I currently have a 36" cooktop, and it serves me well. I can't imagine needing anything bigger.

Blue Star is great quality. This model comes with a charbroiler. I imagine this would be good to finish off (or start) meats with a sear. I'm going to do my research more, but BS is cerrtainly a brand I will strongly consider. Does anyone locally in the BR area sell them (Stanton's, Gordon's, etc.)?

Thank you. You should see what it looked like when we moved in

Did not plan a complete reno but when we removed the countertops and found 50+years of rodent intrusion through a massive opening into the crawl space we decided to gut it.

You can't unsee a massive raccoon chipmunk mouse and squirrel graveyard inside your counter housing.

I love blueStar! If gas had been an option we would have likely gotten that over induction.

We got ours at campos in Metairie. They have a floor model of each size and style to look at. Good people too

I’m not a huge fan of the built in chargriller it takes up the two middle burner areas which is where I cook the most. Also the left rear burner is a low BTU simmer burner so that leaves you with only three full burners on a 6 burner size cooktop. I would pass on that and get the extra middle burner

Finally and this is just my experience, the open burner style is way better for cooking than the sealed burners, are easier to clean, and gives you a restaurant quality wok burner

agree with everything cgrand said. if you're spending the extra to go 36" or even 48" you need to look at the layout to ensure its got the cooking platforms you'll use the most.

also the patented 'star shaped' burner is the goat! fast even gas heat.
