anyone who loves going to Pho Tau Bay, please try Pho Bang. It's MUCH better, cheaper, and more authentic......but they do close at 5pm.

Will do tigre, thanks. A Thai waitress at Five Happiness turned me on to Pho Tau Bay years ago.

on Manhattan, right hand side going away from the expressway in a little strip mall. Probably less than a mile, before you pass Lowes, Sam's etc.

I agree, their Pho is really freaking good.

The place is actually a branch of a reginal chain, oddly enough.

They had a location in Biloxi, and they have others in Mobile, Houston, and I think a few other Gulf Coast towns.

yeah, i've seen others around. Do they all operate the same way? open from about 7am to 5pm, i'm usually the only round eye in the place. Also, unlike Pho Tau Bay, they always have the good bits (tendon, fat, etc).

guess this makes sense. no idea if it's true, but the one on Vets that i tried definitely wasn't as good....but was still good.

While Pho Bang may indeed have a franchise name, each restaurant has it's own unique pho recipe. The soup at Pho Bang on the Westbank tastes much different than the Pho Bang's in Metairie and New Orleans East. In addition, it tastes radically different than the franchises in other far away cities like Arizona and New York. In this sense, Pho Bang on the Westbank is essentially a mom and pop restaurant that just has the franchise "name"..... That's it.
