I disagree. A wealth tax is pure theft, whether I agree with the owner or not.

If a university can’t be privately funded, then it shouldn’t exist.

How and when? I assume you mean as a total because there are very few gifts of $1 billion. So are you talking about unrealized gains on investments, or as the endowments are used as intended; building buildings, scholarships, etc., as designated by the giver? I'm not sure where I would draw the line here. I would need to know how the trusts are set up and for what purpose.

Not a wealth tax. Just tax their investment earnings and properties.

So Auburn or Alabama, but not both?

So Florida or Florida State, but not both? (And no UCF or USF either).

So Georgia or Georgia Tech, but not both?

So Clemson or South Carolina but not both?

Texas or Texas AM? Kansas or Kansas State? And what about community colleges?

Sure. I'm fine with private universities being exempted as long as they accept no federal funding, including federal government guaranteed student loans.

Any tax is government confiscation of earned wealth. I do not support any new taxes at any level, ever. Taxes prevent upward economic mobility. It makes all of us slaves.
