I have a meeting the first week of June at Cannon Beach.

Would like to spend a couple of days in Cannon Beach, a couple of days in Yachats, and explore Multnomah Falls and the surrounding area.

Is this too much driving for a 6 day trip?

Any tips would be appreciated on recommendations to eat/stay. TIA

I did Portland and Cannon Beach this past summer - stayed at the Hallmark.
Took a day trip north to Astoria, the Peter Iredale shipwreck in Warrenton, and Cape Disappointment.

The restaurants in Cannon Beach are mostly breweries, but good - Pelican and Public Coast Brewing. Cannon Beach bakery good breakfast and coffee.

You can do Ecola State Park and Indian Beach, but I preferred Short Sands which is about 10 minutes south of the town.

Sounds reasonable for a 6 day trip, just figure out the things you need to do and plan around that.

Insomnia Coffee's Cannon Beach location is a great spot for to hang with a coffee and bakery / pastry item. Their scones are good.

MacGregor's makes a good Old Fashioned and their spirit list is pretty extensive. Food was fine. I'd go back for drinks.

Bill's Tavern is a good place to stop in for a beer and chowder. Beer is OK.

Pelican Brewing is a big space. Worth going to with a few people.

I've been to Cannon Beach a couple times, but both times in October. Chilly and windy, obviously, but you still get nice breaks of sun and beautiful colors along the beach.

Just be aware that on the warmest, sunniest day of the year (which won't be in June, BTW) it will be like windy and 69.

Farther south, the Dunes are awesome too.

I was there at the warmest time of year and temp didn't touch 70

Literally 20 degrees cooler than Portland

When I stopped at the shipwreck beach around 9am it was about 60 and misting so hard it was almost raining, my daughter said "this is the worst beach ever"

I loved it though

I happened to be around there at Thanskgiving. On Black Friday, I took a swim in the Pacific. The water was surprisingly not THAT cold...I would estimate 55 or 57. The brutal part was the walk - the beach is so damned wide, I then had to walk wet very far back to the condo.

Spend an afternoon in Astoria. Walkable downtown and some cool shops. We like getting the fried rockfish & fries at South Bay Wild. Cape Disappointment was neat too.

We just explored the coast, it's so beautiful. There's a fresh baked pie place in Oceanside on Tunnel Beach if you get down that way. Tillamook Dairy is close by that area too and you can catch them on the way back to Multnomah Falls. Enjoy

No, not true at all. There’s more restaurants than you think.

Not to be technical but there’s only 1 brewery in Cannon Beach and that’s Public coast. Pelican is a brewpub as their beer is brewed in Pacific city.

The most interesting beer spot there is Cannon Beach Hardware and Public House. It’s a taproom and restaurant inside a working hardware/home goods store.

Definitely stop there OP since you haven’t been.

On your way south from Cannon Beach shortly before you arrive to Manzanita there are several lookout points. The last one, Neahkahnie south viewpoint, has an amazing view looking down on the beach there in Manzanita. I always stop there.

No, you’ll be running and gunning for 2/3 days but it’ll be worth it to take that much in.

If you decide go to Mt. Hood (Timberline), check the live cams to see if it’s clear, and going to Multnomah falls do a loop from highway 26/35/I84. If it isn’t clear it’s not exactly worth going. If it is clear you have a hell of a view looking south.

Before going North on 35 continue on 26 to go to Trillium lake for a breathtaking view of Hood mirrored in the lake. If it’s a weekend they have someone at the highway entrance taking money because everyone stops but no one wants to pay 5 bucks to park for a few minutes of looking.

Head back to 35 north and it’s a pretty drive and the view of Mt. Adam’s is very nice.

Get lunch in Hood River. Lots of good places. I usually go to Double Mountain brewery and get pizza.

Ferment brewing has good pub food and the best view of all the breweries in town.

Pfriem probably has the best overall beers but I love the sour reserves at Double Mountain so that’s why I end up there most of the time.

If beer is your thing and you like sours stop at de Garde in Tillamook. It’s world class. Of course, after you stop at the Tillamook cheese factory and get ice cream and cheese curds. You can only buy their curds at the creamery so I always stop for some.

If you do like craft beer I have more recs so let me know.
