Some time back, I started a thread with an X post from Mike Rowe where he leaned harder into a political stance than was normal for him. He’s been an advocate for many things that align with the right, but has eschewed being seen as partisan.

He has a new one now. He still doesn’t make it an explicitly left/right thing, but he pulls no punches in calling this what it is: hollow virtue-signaling.

quote:

Here’s the short version, in case the article is behind a paywall. An ordinance creating a reparations fund for Black residents in San Francisco has finally been signed into law, but the program lacks an identified source of funding. Mayor Daniel Lurie has stated that no city funds will be used, (even though he signed the law!) emphasizing the fund's reliance on private donations…none of which have been received.

In other words, no one who pushed this preposterous idea forward has pledged a penny toward its practical implementation. I refer specifically to the philanthropists on The San Francisco Board of Supervisors: The 11-member star chamber who unanimously approved the legislation on December 16, 2025. More specifically, I refer to Supervisors Chan, Chen, Dorsey, Fielder, Mahmood, Mandelman, Melgar, Sauter, Sherrill, Walton, and Wong.

Talk about purely performative politics!

But then what else should we expect from the political class in San Francisco?

How have they spend $217,000 from an account with $0 in it?

This is pretty much a dead issue....
Blue state elected officials are 100% behind it until it comes time to fund it.
That's pretty much how Newscum has handled this.
They will tease along the black folks who don't understand the value of hardwork or commitment.... but when the times come to put others tax dollars to do it, they back off.
Im not generalizing all black folks in the above category. I believe many are not agreeable to reparations. This depends on geographics.

This is an awesome time to bring up reparations. People are on the brink of tax revolution due to all the reparations we've been paying without consent or knowledge.

Much like any rich liberal can donate to the US treasury as "Gift Contributions to Reduce Debt Held by the Public", only about $1 million gets donated annually.

It is never about addressing the "problem" they claim they want to help fix.
