Going to the Auburn/Baylor game in August. Has anyone stayed near the stadium and walked to an event? I’m not typically scared to be out at night, but I’m not stupid and don’t know the area at all. Any advice would be appreciated.

From somewhere downtown like the Marriott Marquis to the stadium, it's probably about a 25 minutes walk. Marta is also an option (definitely safe during big events like football games). I'll be at the game too. ComicCon is usually the same weekend, but I don't keep up with that.

I’m not sure how much the area has changed but we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for the SECG in 2019. It was an easy and safe walk to the stadium and back. It was also convenient to the CFB HOF and Centennial Olympic Park.

Two closest hotels at a Signia by Hilton almost next door and the Omni at CNN Center just the other side of State Farm Arena.

There is also a Hyatt across from the aquarium and maybe one or two other places around Centennial Park. Typically not an area I would walk at night but given that lots of folks going to the game are staying around there, you have safety in numbers.

Other option, as mentioned, is to ride MARTA in. You could stay up around 400/285 and catch the red line to Five Points and then the blue line to the Dome.

Stayed at the DoubleTree (I think it was?) near Centennial Park for a Saints/Falcons game. Was right across the park from the stadium and an easy walk. Perfectly safe, especially with all the people around for the game. We spent the night before the game in another part of town and just took an Uber straight back to the hotel.

If you want to stay in a quieter area, you may be able to find an Airbnb somewhere right off the blue(east/west) line stops in one of the neighborhoods going east - Inman Park, Candler Park, Decatur. It’s a really easy Marta ride and drops you off right there. Plenty of great spots to eat in those neighborhoods.

There’s a Signia Hilton basically next door and an Omni relatively close by. Beyond that you gotta get downtown around AmericasMart and there are plenty of good hotel options. As long as you walk east with the crowd when you leave the stadium, you’ll be safe.

That said, I’m currently at the Hilton that’s 1.1 mile from the stadium. It would suck dick making that walk in August. It’s hilly downtown.

I’ve never been on the MARTA, but I guess that’s an option. Just not familiar with that whole system.
