Why use an outdated system like RPI? Is it because it is the only one that has McNeese above LSU? How about the NET rank, Ken Pomeroy, Bart Torvik, and ESPN's BPI, which are all used to help determine tournament teams (unlike RPI)

Isn’t the RPI just based on wins and strength of schedule? That’s a better system IMO. I don’t like the idea of efficiency stats playing a part in who goes to the tournament

No, it isn't. It uses a simple formula. 25% for Win Percentage, 50% for Opponents' Win Percentage, 25% for Opponents' opponents' win percentage.

NET uses Quadrants as part of its system, which would probably parallel SOS.

LSU, with a record of 14-8 (0 non-D1 games), has an SOS of 54; McNeese, with a record of 16-5 (2-0 in non-D1 games), has an SOS of 108.

By Season's end, McNeese's SOS will be 129, and LSU's will be 44, given the current power ratings of the teams they play.

There is a reason the NCAA went away from using RPI in basketball.

At the end of the day, though, LSU is likely to be home at tournament time, and McNeese is at least more likely than LSU to be in the tournament, though, as a conference tournament champion and not by virtue of an at-large selection.
