They announced it was closing in a few weeks some time back. I don't think they mentioned why specifically, but I assume high volume business just wasn't there?
That location seems to be cursed.

Two Callender's employees were murdered there.
Traffic makes getting in and out of the parking lot difficult, and that little shopping complex has minimal pedestrian traffic.
The food was good...pisco sours sub par.

that didn't take long
most people that ride by that location don't even realize it's a restaurant

The place was open for over 2.5 years. That's a lot longer than many restaurants in that space.
Didn't take long for you to be ignorant here though.

Always enjoyed my meals there, but it was across town for me and generally not worth the drive through traffic. Wish they would have chosen a different location.
This and Solera rebranding as a basic grill are the first restaurant closures in a very long time that actually moved the needle for me. Not that either were surprising, but I always hate when unique restaurants shut down.

I hate losing Solara, we had Friday lunch there often.

My issue with Solera, and I say this as someone who loves Spanish food and wanted to love Solera, is that they seemed afraid to fully lean into being a Spanish restaurant. While the menu was solid, there was rarely anything interesting or challenging, but their prices seemed to reflect that's what they thought they were doing. And that trend got worse over time. Early on, I attended some extremely enjoyable larger dinners there, with the table covered in paella and tapas in a way that reminded me of my time in Spain. But as time went on, my dinners there felt more and more like dinner at a restaurant in Baton Rouge.
Now, I have no doubt that was driven by data that said that's what people wanted, which is why they are converting to yet another "grille". But if Lafayette can support Pamplona, I 100% believe Baton Rouge can support a Spanish restaurant if it was located and done right.

I love paella, but I told the chef once, their soccorat game was weak.

Location and and the murder that happened years ago is a definite curse…..I think to many people drive by and don’t even notice what’s there

While I agree with you, that’s a lot to ask of a restaurant

its location, I'd imagine a large % of Baton Rouge has forgotten about calendars in general and that incident
That place also didn't really advertise at all, just a sign popped up one day. Just kind of relying on someone to give you a random show or word of mouth

On a mildly related note, can anyone out on Coursey tell me what’s going on with Sushi Village? A couple of days ago they showed as temporarily closed on DoorDash, and now their website is throwing a security error. I’ve literally never stepped foot inside, but I’m pretty sure I’ve put their kids/grandkids through college via delivery, and I’m going to be heartbroken if they closed

Not sure - on Doordash it looks like I can place an order for next week - maybe just a family closure for a week or something like that?
Website loads fine for me.

It was set to open “Tuesday” since Sunday, so when Tuesday passed again, that’s when I got concerned.

I wonder if it’s going some weird thing and rejecting Apple mobile IP shielding. I’ll check on my pc later.

I haven't.
I served on the jury for Todd Wessinger's murder trial and had to listen to the 911 call as Stephanie Guzzardo pled for her life and he shot her. I will never forget. He should have been put down many years ago.
