Texans what’s going on with this Fort Worth area seat? The Dem is up 56-44 in a Trump +17 district?

Not trying to sound like a douche, but why are you concerning yourself with a random local election on a Saturday night in a state you don’t even live in?
How did you even know there was an election anyway?

Most GOP normies didn't even know this election was happening.

It’s my job and why do you care enough to comment?

I think that’s why Trump has been tweeting about it. Dems are all in on midterms at licsl/state/natonal level.

Imagine that, the party in power getting destroyed in off year or midterm elections.
This has happened like clockwork for the past 20 years.

Off year elections favor dems because dems generally turn out at higher rates
This is a reverse of the Obama years when dems lost most special elections

True, but usually in swing districts. Not necessarily in +17 seats where the same party has held the seat for decades.

Alabama senate 2017
Massachusetts senate 2010
Virginia Governor 2021
All massive swings away from party in power

You’re talking about Democrats winning by double digits in an R+20 seat. That can't be hand waived away as just a an off year special election

All statewide elections.
I’m not sure of the point you’re trying to make, because this is a heavily Republican district in a corner of Ft Worth. It’s not even the same game, much less the same ballpark as a statewide election.

Exactly. There were several congressional districts in 2017 and 2018 that swung wildly to the left. Same thing happened to Obama in 2010 and Biden in 2021/2022.

Now he is in Dallas County. Oh Boy.
This is like hiring Tony Soprano to oversee your county's waste removal.

As a FYI, this election means absolutely nothing.
It's to fill a newly vacant seat during a period of time where the state legislature isn't meeting. It's been brutally cold and the election means nothing. Hard to get people energized for that.

The winner of the runoff will serve the remainder of Hancock's term, which expires at the end of December. The Legislature is not in session this year. Rehmet and Wambsganss are expected to face each other again in November in the race for a full four-year term beginning in January 2027, when the next legislative session convenes.

The optics of winning/losing a heavy red district.
