American Express is adding two new restrictions for cardholders with Centurion Lounge access. Beginning in July 2026 cardmember guests must be traveling on the same flight as the cardmember and access during layovers is limited to five hours before departure of the connecting flight.

I don't think this will have much of an impact on crowding or on cardholders as the changes seem limited and fair. Will be interesting to see if it helps with crowding though.

I can’t imagine this affecting anybody, but it must be a problem or else they wouldn’t have to implement this new measure

I've done this before. Traveling with co-workers and both of us flying out at the same time, but to different locations

This is what I have done in the past as well. That's the biggest change. Maybe AmEx thinks it'll push those coworkers to get a Platinum Card.

I took extensive measures to make sure I was never on a flight with co-workers, with one exception in 20 years. I sure AF don't want to "relax" in the lounge with a joker asking me about the 113 slide PowerPoint the partner insisted on for the hour long meeting.

I like my co-workers. It's the bosses and the juniors I don't want to travel with.

When I lived in DFW I was a Delta/United guy which basically ensured I was never on a flight with them.

Douche social media people would advertise getting randos into the lounges.

Those both seem very reasonable to me, frankly I don’t see the need to allow it otherwise.

Assuming this will be analyzed by your current departure time. So if you have a delay your time in the lounge can be extended.
