- Panama's Supreme Court invalidated CK Hutchison Holdings' (Hong Kong-based) 25-year concession to operate ports at the Panama Canal's entrances, citing constitutional irregularities uncovered in a government audit, effectively curbing Chinese-linked commercial control over the vital waterway.
- The ruling advances the "Donroe Doctrine," a Trump-era foreign policy framing—named after a blend of "Donald" and "Monroe"—that extends the 19th-century Monroe Doctrine to prioritize U.S. influence in the Western Hemisphere and block adversarial powers like China from strategic infrastructure.
- This development escalates U.S.-China tensions in Latin America, where Beijing has invested heavily in ports and logistics; it could lead to U.S.-backed bids for the concessions, enhancing American naval and trade security amid global supply chain vulnerabilities.

PANAMA KILLS $22.8B CHINA-LINKED PORT DEAL IN A BIG WIN FOR TRUMP

Panama’s Supreme Court just tossed out the contract renewal that let Hong Kong–based CK Hutchison run 2 Panama Canal ports, saying the 25-year extension was unconstitutional and full of money problems.

The setup had basically given China some quiet leverage over one of the world’s biggest chokepoints, which Washington hated from day one.

The case picked up speed after pressure from the Trump administration, and a Panama audit later said the company shorted the country by around $1.3B.

CK Hutchison tried selling its stake in a $22.8B deal last year, but the whole thing froze once Beijing started objecting.

A senior Trump official is already calling the ruling “a big win for America and for President Trump.”

Chini won't like this. Gonna have to bolster a readiness and willingness to come to the defensive aid of both Panama and Taiwan, purely as a deterrent factor of course, but capable of being more if necessary.

The hits just keep coming for Xi, in spite of the slow long-game he has always played.

I though ck hutchinson had theses since 1990 and was selling them and other port contracts to black stone?

Side note c k Hutchison is part of the li empire ( China real estate and much more)… and does lots of business and friends with Peter thiel ( ie vance sponsor behind the curtain)

“The decision could disrupt CK Hutchison's (0001.HK), proposed $23 billion sale of dozens of ports worldwide, including the Panamanian terminals, to a consortium led by BlackRock (BLK.N),”
