I've got a couple of the old ones when they first came out mid 90s; one drop point serrated and one tanto plain edge. Good steel, mine have the AUS-8 steel made in Japan, I think the newer ones have different steel and made in Taiwan not that there's anything wrong with that. Think I paid $30 ea (30 yrs ago!) but even what they're going for now they're pretty good for a knife you won't be heartbroken if you lose.
I'm no longer a fan of lockback locking mechanisms and I've grown to really dislike thumb studs for opening. The molded plastic pocket clip has bent enough that it doesn't provide good pocket retention but thought about dremelling it off and mounting a new steel spring clip but just haven't bothered since mine's been relegated to living in one of my packs for times when I don't already have a knife on me ... which is basically never.

Yes. I have one of the 90’s models when they were made in Japan.
I like it, just never carry it. Sits in a drawer now.

Had the exact same, tanto folders. One I kept clipped on my web gear. Lost both in time, not sure when or where but they were good knives for the money. Used to be a fan of Cold Steel, bought their knives for several years in the early 2000's, not so much now. Last one I got was a large Recon when they had a crossbar lock, great knife but the locking mechanism wore out and could never get replacement parts.
