Tonight it’s Walmart. They have 16 self checkout “machines”. 4 out of 16 are turned on. I’m about 25th in line.

And it’s not like they open up cashier lanes.

I can’t remember the last time I stepped inside the store itself

Thank you Walmart+

Then take them out

Noooo… they doubled from 8 to 16 just 3 months ago

More cashiers would be great for loss management

Order 15 items, 5 are “not available” and 2 more are expired or the wrong item

It's my understanding that an employee can only oversee two or three self checkouts.

I stopped shopping in my local Walmart because of this- they gutted almost all the regular checkouts then, after covid, got strict on self c/o supervision to the point that it was cheaper to shop anywhere else if you valued your time.

It sucks.

Not a lot of options unless I want to drive 30 min each way

Or they deliver your items to the wrong address, 2x in one week.

Also, all self checkouts need to set a hard limit. Once you hit 15-20 items, that's it. Check out.

Fine. I’ll pay then start scanning again.

It wasn't so bad here, before covid... all self c/o's that were operational were open. I think theft got out of hand.

They oughta take a finger everytime a thief gets caught instead of making the rest of us miserable.

I’d rather self check out than a cashier. I don’t need nine bags for 10 items. And God forbid they put the toothpaste and soap in with a bag of chips. I’d rather do it myself and stuff 10 items into two or three bags.

Look around you, or maybe in the mirror…there’s your answer.

Other than having to have a fat cow monitor the machines, there is no singular reason for those machines to be closed down when people are in the store.

Kroger does that sheet and it makes me want to burn that mofo down So you’re forced to go wait in a line for 10 minutes with now warm milk.

One of the Walton hags funded the No Kings protest and its advertisement. I just find it funny that she'll fund that nonsense, but how dare the general public steal from her store?
