DH and I were listening to the hearing before the SC regarding the Hawaii limitations on concealed carry on private property.

One of the attorneys (a woman) kept using the term 'founding generation.' Is this a new politically-correct phrase used by left wing historians? I sure don't recall any women among the signers.

Historians and political science people are sickening!

Those who were involved in the Founding of our country? The Constitution?

Where's the part about women come into play?

Up until now it has been the Founding Fathers. Nowhere have I seen the term 'founding generation' ever. And I've read plenty of history books.

And 'generation' includes both genders. Thus the reference to 'women.' Got it?

What, you think there weren't women back then?

the usual phrase is "the founders", which I have no huge problems with

as w/early Christianity there were women around, working unofficially behind the scenes. Abigail Adams for one (there was also a damn Joo helping finance the revolution, at his own financial sacrifice)

I watched (and disliked) Cokie Roberts for years before I learned she was the daughter of Hale Boggs

I listen to conservative podcasts about US political history and the founding generation is often referred to men not in the mainstream as a founding father but were influential to their time.

i.e.
John Taylor of Caroline
John Randolph of Roanoke
George Mason
Samuel Adams
