For all the 'good on paper' doubters

To a certain extent this is a numbers game. It's also a recruiting talent game and, and in many cases, a development game.
There are multiple aspects to it. First, let's say in general, 15% of your portal guys turn out to be stars. Second, let's say one coach (LK) is a better judge of talent than another (BK). Finally, let's say some kids are old school and are not ALL about the $$. Landen Clark comes to mind.
The sheer volume of portal players will help us. That ups your hit rate right there.
I think LK is most certainly a better judge of talent. So if he recruited the exact same player rating as BK, the base level is already higher.
And good GOD, we KNOW he'll develop these kids better. And they know it too. NO development happened under BK. Name a kid who improved year over year. I challenge you.
Ultimately, Kiffin will have a much better percentage of successful transfers.
So Kelly gets 20 dudes who are good. 5 of them turn out halfway decent.
Kiffin gets 40 dudes. at LEAST 10 will be huge contributors. Probably 15.
Add to that their age and better development, his hit rate is far superior.
Let's be honest. A bunch of these dudes WON'T work out. But at a minimum, i am thinking with LK we're gaining 15 or so HUGE contributors.
That's why I like this portal class.

I get what you're saying.
Jayden got better year over year.
Jayden got better year over year.

Fair enough! I was wrong there for sure.
i maaaaaay argue that CBK had absolutely zero to do with that but that's just semantics.
i DO think that Denbrock was a lot better than he who shall not be Sloandered.

For the most part Kelly just went after high rated portal guys and hoped they fit well in our scheme. Lane appears to do much more research getting guys with the skill sets that he knows can be successful in his scheme and picks up enough of them from different levels to where he is confident that he will have enough of them flourish in his system. His system tends to spread the ball around to a lot of different guys so he isn’t necessarily always going after the big name stud WR who may get an attitude about not getting the ball enough. Not saying we won’t ever get any of those types. It just feels he is getting the right guys to fit his system

They only took so many transfers cause so many players left. You act like it was strategic lol

If the OL is bad again, it will be due to a new batch of bad personnel and not from horrendous coaching.........

Man, Wolford and Cregg could do a better job at developing linemen on the phone from their living room couches than Brad Davis could on the field right in front of them.

Will Campbell, Nabors and BTJ were going to be great no matter who was coaching them. Jayden Daniels took it upon himself to put the time and work in to get better. BK had nothing to do with Jaydens improvement. It was most likely Denbrock that helped him. I would have believed BK had more to do with his improvement had he gave somewhat of a shite about Nuss’s work ethic and trying to push him to make that jump like Jayden did. But he just let Nuss do whatever and it showed every week on the field.
