This was early, but he kept getting smoother and did great songs.

Epochal solo by Shreveport's James Burton

Awesome stuff. Him and Bobby Darin never got put out there enough after their initial hits. Never accepted, even though they were doing great stuff.
Why wasn't Burton playing a Telecaster?
He must have been sick or somethin.
Great though

I could have sworn that Ricky Nelson had a cover of "I Could Have Danced All Night" but google is giving me nothing. Songwriters Loerner/Lowe.
Anyone out there, can you validate me? Or otherwise correct me?

Are we just going to pretend that Matthew and Gunnar Nelson aren't a thing?

He was awesome. I saw him at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 1982.

They used to have a commercial for albums and they did one for Ricky Nelson every evening. Any one else remember these commercials.

The thing about Nelson(Matthew & Gunnar) is they have good vocal talent. EVERYTHING about the band Nelson was just bad. The look, the clothes, the music, the songs. Just a disaster. They seem like good guys too.
1990 was one the weirdest times for music. Hair/glam bands were on their 3rd wave & the scene was stalling out & grunge was lurking out there but hadn’t gone mainstream. Thrash was huge in the underground & lots of rock bands had suddenly jumped on the acoustic train. New Jack swing was in full force & gangsta rap hasn’t broken big yet.

Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon band had Randy Meisner in it who was a founding member of The Eagles. Stone Canyon Band was influential in developing the country rock sound which the Eagles ran with. Hell no Ricky Nelson doesn’t get enough credit.

I wonder if Uncle Mark got a cut out of that?

His band leader during the early years was the great Al "Puddler" Harris from Jigger, Louisiana.

Baton Rouge's own Bobbie Brown used to date Matthew Nelson. This was before Jani Lane and Tommy Lee. I have no idea which one Matthew is...
