We are going to be on both sides of this coin this year and moving forward.

Contracts should either be binding.... or don't bother having a contract.

We have people celebrating about what was about to happen with UW, but then in the next breath complaining about Trey'dez Green.

I just want people to that want to be here and not for the money.

I write contracts for construction and services. Every contract has a termination clause with liquidated damages. Mist can be broken on s 7 day notice
The lawyers can chime in after me.

The contracts are binding.

The problem comes as to the remedies available for breach. Generally, the two remedies for breach of contract are either specific performance or damages.

Specific Performance: It's not available for breach of a personal services contract. In America, courts don't issue orders that compel people to do a job. No court is going to order a kid to play football.

Damages: What are a school's damages if a player decides he doesn't want to play football for a school the day after signing the contract, or the week after signing the contract. Calculating a figure for damages in those situations sounds speculative, assuming that the school suffered any actual damages. Liquidated damages clauses are supposed to reasonably approximate the damages suffered by the nonbreaching party. But again, what are the damages if a kid decides to terminate/breach a contract two days after signing it?
