Finally got around to playing Hollow Knight

I'd guess I'm a little under halfway through (I think? Just got to City of Tears) and I already have a feeling this is going to land solidly in my top 5 games ever. Combat/movement is incredible and the art design/music/overall tone is god tier.
Kinda kicking myself for dragging my feet on this. What an incredible experience so far.

If you are enjoying the game and just got to city of tears you're in for a treat, because without doing some kind of serious sequence breaking type stuff, you're nowhere close to what would be considered the halfway point of the game.
My first playthrough before I started a new one was like 60 hours and I didn't even finish all content in the game during that playthrough. Subsequent playthroughs are obviously much faster.

I felt that way when I first played Hollow Knight a couple of months ago. I finished it and started Prince of Persia Lost Crown and that now that one has easily surpassed Hollow Knight for me. I can appreciate the work put in by a small indie, but Ubisoft absolutely nailed the genre

Silksong prequel. If you love HK so far, you're going to love Hornet's game.

Silksong is an excellent sequel.
Team Cherry crushed both entries.

I need to get back into HK. I got about 1/2 to 2/3 through (you're not there yet) and just... stopped. I didn't hit a difficulty wall; the map just opened up in a way that wasn't compelling for whatever reason and I stopped.

I don't even remember how far I got, but I remember encountering something similar. I'm just now closing out Act I on Silksong and I'm sure I'll go back to HK once I'm done.

I hit this point too except I continued and ended up getting the plat. Silksong was far better about this and I didn't reach a similar point. Having a speaking protagonist and more cinematic, narrative-driven approach helped a lot

trying hk since it is free with sub and that happened to me after 1st 15 minutes. map is huge so many ways to go and no real purpose after 1st 15 min in game. so you just pick a direction and hope for the best i guess. not appealing so far.

There's a vendor in the starting area that sells a charm that allows you to see yourself on the map. Getting it should be your first priority, and I would argue the game is anti-fun until you have it.

Wow there's so much more to the map/game than I originally thought. It just keeps expanding. I wasn't anywhere near where I thought I was in terms of progress.

Haha yeah, I figured my "(you're not there yet)" was about as far as I was willing to go without getting into scope spoilers

Having to use a Crest slot on Silksong just to see yourself on the map is crazy.

Yeah, same thing in HK. On particularly tough fights, it would just memorize the path back to the fight so I could have the extra slot

I'm having such a tough time with the Last Judge, I might do that for Hornet.

City of Tears has one of the best atmospheres ever. Just a beautiful game; Silksong is really good too.
Pantheon 5 is my greatest gaming achievement, harder than NES Castlevania3/Ninja Gaiden/Mega Man 2/Mario Lost Levels and 100%ing Sekiro.
