“Play for us or we’ll sue you” seems like a stupid position to take with a QB

I don’t think they are actually going to try to make him stay. That relationship of over.

Yea it’ll most likely be liquidated damages paid by the University he goes to. Essentially a transfer fee

Which LSU would happily pay

Reading the tea leaves, the bridge is burnt at this point, he won't play another down for UW. It's just about if he's paying damages or not.

Which was obviously going to be the logical conclusion of all of this. The European soccer model most closely resembles CFB and every problem we’ve had in CFB regarding transfers has been discussed in that world before.

Only difference is we’re going Bosman from day 1. It’s going to get wild and going to involve some of the fattest most convoluted legal cases ever. I predict it goes up to the Supreme Court in the end.

This sport and financial environment is in such an unstable place that all I can recommend is to laugh and roll with the punches. Things will get crazier and crazier.

I think the better question I have with this is what's preventing this guy from releasing himself from Washington, signing with LSU, then telling LSU to kick rocks if someone else with a more lucrative offer comes up in the next week or so? He'd have maybe 2 legal problems so unlikely but it just goes to tell you how crazy it's setup right now. He probably could do that too if he really wanted.
