No one at LSU has ever come close to underperforming the way Nuss did this season pre-season Heisman hype or not. If not for the huge round of busts this season like Arch Manning, Klubnik, etc. I’d say that he’s one of the biggest busts in NCAA history

I think you'll get downvotes from the P&G goggles crowd but I 100% agree with you

ETA: but, but, but, 4000 yards last year!!!

I see your Nuss and I raise you DJ U, DJ Lagway, Mitch Mustain, and Tate Martell.

I think Nussmeier is the only pre-season Heisman candidate. Maybe Hodson back in the day? Burrow and Daniels weren't on the Heisman radar before their Heisman winning seasons.

Those were all guys highly touted out of high school. That’s not the same as Nuss being highly touted coming out of his junior year

Tommy Hodson went into his senior year with Heisman hype and a top 10 preseason ranking and the Tigers went 4-7, although Hodson played well for the most part

So outside the 5+ other Heisman busts this season alone, it’s the worst EVER season. Ok

Arch
Lagaway
Sellers
Allar
Nuss
Klubnick

I could go on. Any QB w preseason hype this year had dreadful seasons. Nuss isn’t unique or the biggest bust ever. There are guys like him with disappointing seasons every year

I feel like Jamarcus probably had some preseason hype at some point?

I doubt Russell was in the Heisman conversation.

Yeah Hodson was still All-SEC in 89, only 4x All-SEC QB in conference history

Tommy Hodson 100%. There was a big banner in the preseason on Tiger Stadium that had a picture of Hodson and it said “Tommy Heisman”

4-7. Archer drove us off a cliff

He did. But Wendell Davis was such a great target in his Sophomore and Junior seasons and him leaving gave Hodson’s production a decent hit for his Senior yr.

Sorry, wasn't asking about non-LSU players.

LSU has had 2 preseason Heisman contender QBs in school history. If you’re only asking about lsu players, you’re not making a bold claim in your OP.

Obvious this season he was injured, bad coaching to not let him heal. You choose to be critical, this offense was horrible with his replacement.

See article on Jayden, in your mind he must be a bust???

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels is shut down for the rest of the 2025 NFL season due to aggravating a left elbow injury, focusing on recovery for 2026, though he remains with the team to practice and learn, as per NFL.com and ESPN. He was ruled out of the final three games after re-injury in Week 14, with the team prioritizing his long-term health over playing in the final, meaningless games
