Yeah, this never happened. Even back in the days of Notre Dame glory they never went to class

As someone who took many classes with players, I can say they most assuredly did.
The team would send an administrator to the classes and manually take attendance of all the football players. They would be suspended for not going to class. This was in the 90s.

You'd be hard pressed to find many high school games where this is altogether true. Now or in the past.

This is how it was like when I was at TCU as well

Our coaching staff would hound us all over grades and going to class and would send the GAs out on golf carts to make sure we were in class.

Mandatory study halls

This was late 2000s

At least put up some kind of facade to make it seem like your players are going to class. They don't even do the bare minimum anymore

I think this is true about football in general.

It doesn’t need to be a 80 point track meet to be enjoyable.
