Went there with my wife last night for our anniversary.
Really delightful experience.
They did a good job on the restoration and the dining area is nice and romantic. They sat us on a bench right next to each other which we thought was a little odd, but it worked!
Got several smaller dishes to share (Tarte Tatin, Poached Shrimp, Gumbo) and for mains the duck and the gnocchi.
Bartender made a tasty old fashioned as well.
Yes you have to go to Algiers, but it is removed far enough from everything else to make you realize you aren't there!
I very much recommend!

Glad you enjoyed it. Wife and I ate there 2 months ago and entree portions extremely small and way overpriced. I won’t go back and realize it isn’t for everyone.

Sums it up well. We went last week for a birthday.
Latest reservation we could get about a week in advance was 5:15 on a Saturday (it's been popular after recent press). Seating is cozy, as the inside dining area is small. There's more room on the screened porch but we didnt want to take a chance that it might be cold (it wasn't).
We were at a table for 2, next to another 2-top. The tables shared an antique couch, and it was interesting scooching between the tables. Awkard at first being so close, but we were able to see what the neighbors ordered, which helped guide our choices. Typical NOLA, we talked a bit with our neighbors, who were eating before a show at the Saenger.
Started with the Brin d'Amour sourdough with cranberries and figs on side and a big wedge of cheese on the plate, after seeing the plain bread our neighbors got. Wife had duck & andouille gumbo. I had an oyster bisque that the neighbor also ordered and the crab salad (marinated crabmeat served in a crab shell). Price no object, I may have gone with the gnocci with crabmeat and duck confit.
All was delicious and we ate light on purpose, as it was the first stop of a night of pub hopping in Algiers and Gretna. We also made it to Old Point, Rice Vice, Crown and Anchor (Coops Burgers was there), Amore' and Rivershack to close it out with some live music.
We talked to one of the proprietors on the back porch and they have plans to add cottages. It's a great property with huge oaks and plenty of area for receptions and events.

People are definitely crossing the river for this one. We overheard others say they drove from MidCity and Bywater. Since we live in Algiers, we didn't have to "go" very far - it's nice to have a fine dining option just up the road. We'd likely only return for special occasions, but I'd pop in just for drinks in the bar or out back.
