Nope. It’s coming from money that was already allocated for military housing supplements. I am pro military, and all for the checks. I am also for transparency.
quote:

Trump signaled that these warrior dividends would be coming from tariff revenue, "We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs." However, the $1,776 payments are coming from a congressionally-approved housing supplement that was part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed back in July, according to officials.

LINK
quote:

The money comes not from tariffs but from $2.9 billion that Congress appropriated in the "big, beautiful bill" to the Department of War to supplement the Basic Allowance for Housing entitlement.

And tariffs collected do not offset the funds that were allocated to the DoW?

And without that tariff income funding would it have been possible to send these funds to soldiers in the first place?

Get trump fatigue is the most fatiguing of all.

I’m sure a tariffs are bringing in money.

Citizens also contribute money to the government. Why not state “these warrior dividends will be coming from taxes paid by you, the American citizens.”? Because it would be disingenuous and misleading.

This money was supposed to be paid this time last year under Biden. The tariffs are why it can be paid now. Instead of looking to bitch about all the good Trump is doing maybe grow up and be greatful we have such a great president.

People need to get offline and enjoy this time of prosperity - offline things are great. I’ve never had a better year financially.

the money was appropriated as supplemental Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). regular BAH payments are unaffected and the 2026 increase in BAH was already factored into the budget. In other words, there was no explicit plan to pay out the supplemental $2.9B. It was there for *potential* increases in housing costs. The funds were unused as of December 2025.

Also, not every service member receives BAH. So your attempt to bring transparency is actually pretty misleading. The fact is, there’s no guarantee that this money would have ever ended up in a service member’s hands. Now, because of the warrior dividend, every single service member is guaranteed to receive that money.

nice gotcha attempt.

This money was not “supposed to be paid last year.” It was a contingency housing appropriation tied to possible BAH shortfalls, not a guaranteed payout, and it went unused because the trigger conditions weren’t met. The money exists because it was reprogrammed into a one-time flat distribution, not because of tariffs and not because Biden failed to pay anyone.

What do you mean no one seems to know? Tariffs go the General US Treasury fund. The same place income tax revenue goes. The US has been collecting tariffs for a very long time, and nothing has changed, except the amount of the tariffs. Regardless of what Trump says, the tariffs by themselves are not ear marked for any one particular thing.

No issue with it.

But, shouldn't it go to actual "warriors"? Should require having been in combat.
