My wife and I waited until the last minute to decide to get him a dirtbike for Christmas.. well it won’t be at our house in time for Christmas morning, so we were trying think of a cool way to surprise him
We thought of the ol fashioned ‘wrap up a picture of it’ or wrapping a toy dirtbike but I know he’s seen that before so I was trying to think about a different way of doing it
He’s 12 FWIW
Any suggestions?

How about wrap up a brand new helmet?

I don’t think that will imply much because he already has a dirtbike, and also a helmet to go with it
Part of me wants to just not tell him Christmas Day because I think the shock of walking up to the actual dirtbike will be 10 times better for him (he’s been asking for this one for almost a year straight and worked his arse off at school and home to earn it also) - but I want to give him his ‘main’ present Christmas Day

Do they make like a model or toy of whatever model you got him?
Could do something like that.

My dad built us a fort when I was about 5, similar to a big box stand before boxstands were a thing.
There was one piece of wood under the tree on Christmas morning. Went outside and the rest of the wood to build the fort was out there. I think they told us it was too big to bring in the house so Daddy would have to put it together outside.

If you can stand the wait, after Christmas take him for a “test drive.”
Bring it home when it’s done.
My buddies helped me with my kids gun like this. Had him hunting ducks in Stuttgart with a “borrowed” left hand 12ga. Told him take it home with him when it was time to leave. Many tears flowed.

Does he watch pro motocross? Maybe see if you can get one of his favorite riders to do a quick video wishing him a Merry Christmas and to tell him what bike is coming his way. There’s a few pro MX guys on Cameo or maybe try asking via social media. Probably going to need to be a rider sponsored by whatever brand bike you’re getting though to keep it from being an awkward ask.
