I don’t know the full history but it’s interesting to look back at.

Was there a falling out in Kiffin’s exit from Tennessee?

Frank (from New Orleans) was a HS coach in New Orleans that got his first college job getting hired to Coach O’s staff at Ole Miss from 2005-2007.

Coach O & staff get fired from Ole Miss in 2007. Frank lands at Southern Miss for a year.

Kiffin gets hired to Tennessee in 2009 & hires Coach O and Frank Wilson to his staff.

Kiffin bolts for USC & Coach O joins him, but not Frank and that is how Frank initially landed at LSU in 2010.

Coach O & Frank were on the same staff again at LSU in 2015, but then Frank bolted for UTSA the next year.

Just curious if anyone else has knowledge/details if anything took place there

Maybe Lane realized that FW wasn't a good RB coach.....maybe Lane realized FW had some other traits that he didn't like.

Kiffin needed a RB coach who was from the West coast and had a history of developing RB's. He hired Kennedy Polamalu who played at USC, had contacts with Mater Dei, and coached the following RB's: Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Justin Fargas, Maurice Jones-Drew, Fred Taylor, Greg Jones.

Frank was a square peg in a round hole and did not fit as a RB coach for USC and the West Coast.

No insider knowledge, just wanted to point out that Frank was the WR coach at UT under Lane that one year and almost got Jarvis Landry to commit. He then helped to get Jarvis to LSU after he joined Les’s staff.

Pretty sure Frank also got Tyrann to a UT camp that summer of 09 that kinda led to him blowing up as a recruit IIRC.

Maybe Lane, like EVERY other coach in college football, realized that RB coach is the primary staff position for a recruiter, and Frank Wilson was not as valuable in California as he was in Tennessee.

1. Maybe Frank thought he should have gotten the head coach job and got butt hurt.

2. Maybe after Lane was hired Lane offered him an off the field role, like recruiting coordinator only.

3. Lane knows Frank, had him on his staff before so maybe he doesn't want him on this staff.

4. Maybe all of the above or some of the above

Umm, I think maybe you are misunderstanding my post.

My post is to show that that level of recruitment is certainly not earth shattering and is replaceable. But letting people draw their own conclusions from the data.

It’s irrelevant to me, just shows how unknowledgeable you are on the matter

Wilson has always felt like a recruiter that was placed into position coach roles to boost his ability to in-home recruit. He was a bad head coach, he never really showed outstanding capability as a position coach, and his skills seem entirely in talent acquisition and player connection.

With NIL and revenue sharing, his skills lose some value while coaching remains important. Why take risk with a marginal coach if you think you can still get the talent?

Most of us are more concerned about Wilson taking Harlem Berry with him although I think he will stay put.
