Griffey to Braves?

They are supposedly in discussions with his agent about the money details. Griffey would be the platoon in LF with Matt Diaz. The Braves backup plans include Garrett Anderson and Jim Edmonds.

Its his number 1 choice from what I'm reading

Braves could do better than this. He's not the player he once was.

And they could do a lot worse than this

I don't think the NL is a good fit for Griffey. With all the injuries he suffered he would be better as a DH if he wants to prolong his career.

The Braves have struck out multiple times this offseason. They need to bring in SOMEONE to add depth to the outfield. Griffey is the number one choice, and that would be a great bat to bring off the bench when needed.

I just think with how his career went after Seattle playing in the field day in and day out would just lead him to another injury. He would serve better for a team as a backup outfielder and an everyday DH.

I wish they would have gotten Bobby Abreu instead.
But, I'd rather they make a play for Garret Anderson over Griffey

If Griffey is all they can get though, I'll take it. Cause right now, it's looking like Gwinnett Braves games will be more interesting than Atlanta Braves games for me to go to.

Garret Anderson should be #1 on that list. Griffey will get injured next year without a doubt and if we give him a big deal, we will be thowing out wasted money like we did with M.Hampton.

Garrett Anderson? He's more done than Griffey.

Anderson is going to give you 145 games, bat around .290, hit 17 or so homeruns, and drive in 85 runs.
Griffey is going to give you DL stints

Really? He's only played 145 1 time in the last five years, and that was exactly 145 last year. And I'd imagine a lot of those games were as a DH.

He's getting progressively worse. I don't think he can put up those numbers in the NL, not DH-ing, and being a year older.

Anderson has been on the DL at least once every year for the last five years. Jr. doesn't excite me either though, but he definitely has more pop.

142 Games
141 Games
108 Games
145 Games
I should have said he will give you 140 games. The number of times Griffey has played 140 games the last 8 years? twice

Last 4 years:
2005: LF - 106 games; DH - 36
2006: LF - 94 games; DH - 45
2007: LF - 85 games; DH - 20
2008: LF - 82 games; DH - 59

His numbers have been pretty consistent
2005: .283, 68 runs, 17 HRs, 96 RBI
2006: .280, 63 runs, 17 HRs, 85 RBI
2007: .297, 67 runs, 16 HRs, 80 RBI
2008: .293, 66 runs, 15 HRs, 84 RBI

Griffey seems to go on the DL once a month and he is 3 years older than Anderson. That isn't a good combo

Agreed he has more pop, but you know is going to get hurt also. He can't help your team much sitting on the DL

that's a lot of games as a DH. Anyway, I'm not going to do much arguing for Griffey. I don't think he's much of a difference maker these days. But I would take him over Garrett Anderson.

Should be making his decision either today or early tomorrow morning. I honestly would love seeing this especially if he is not used as an everyday hitter and only put him in the lineup against righties and let Diaz in there against the lefties. Would also help him stay healthy a tad bit easier

In a perfect world, Bobby would use him in a straight platoon, but I doubt that will happen. He'll probably play him most of the time, even against lefties, overexposing him, and he's going to get hurt.
But all things considered, I think the Braves could use him.

being a huge braves fan, i dont believe if its garrett anderson or griffey it will matter much. i dont see world series 2009 in site for the braves unless all the stars align. as a griffey / braves fan, i would love to see him in a braves uniform.

Me too. Give him a one year contract and see what he can do.
