I mean, let's not act like we did not have a bunch of people say that Saban was going to fail at Alabama when he took that job.

This is sports.

Archie is the same guy who was incredulous Saints fans could celebrating winning the Super Bowl by beating his son. Post-retirement Archie has fulfilled the "never meet your heroes" comment without me ever actually meeting him.

Archie can frick off.

He made a lot of money off the people of Louisiana, and he and his family want to shite on the state's flagship university.

He’s a salty old man that lives in the Garden District. I do respect that he still has a deep seated hatred for LSU.

That doesn't sound right.

Don’t remember any previous players doing this AND if they did, it was wishful thinking.

The fear of Saban at Bama is being replicated with LK at LSU

Like hundreds of others, many of whom hate LSU and send their kids to Ole Miss. In his defense, he's actually from Mississippi, unlike the others.

From Archie's point of view, I can maybe understand it...

1. Archie grows up in Mississippi and goes to Ole Miss.

2. Archie upsets LSU in 1968 and 1969 in two three point wins, but #8 LSU gets revenge in 1970 over #16 Ole Miss by a score of 61-17. The loss kept Ole Miss from a three-way tie with LSU and Tennessee for the SEC championship.

3. Archie gets drafted by the NFL team from Louisiana (no need to explain how that went).

4. To his credit, he keeps his family in New Orleans and his kids go to school at Newman.

5. Cooper is the oldest child and goes to Ole Miss as a WR (to my knowledge LSU did not strongly recruit him because he was always Ole Miss) but spinal injury ends his career before it starts.

6. Peyton finishes high school in 1994 when LSU was at its lowest point ever, and he decides on Tennessee. LSU and Tennessee never play while he is at Tennessee.

7. Eli decides on Ole Miss (again LSU is in transition to new coach at the time) and beats LSU (Nick Saban team) in 2001 (but LSU still wins SEC). But LSU gets revenge in 2002 and again in 2003 when Ole Miss has a chance to win the SEC West (LSU wins division with head-to-head win).

8. New Orleans Saints finally make the Super Bowl but face the Colts with (by now NFL legend) Peyton throwing a pick-6 that iced the game for the Saints. Something great for Louisiana but at the expense of Peyton.

9. Arch manning goes to Texas to help bring the Longhorns another national championship after 20 years without one trying to match nearby LSU winning two championships since the last time Texas did.

10. Ole Miss has their most successful run from 2020 to 2025 with Lane Kiffin and makes the college football playoff, but Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for LSU.

A new chapter is written in the hate/love/hate relationship between the Mannings and LSU/Louisiana.
